Vitaly Kupriy is a musician, pianist and composer who has received many awards and prizes. He won the prestigious First Prize as the youngest person to compete at the All-Russian Chopin Competition in Kazan, in the Soviet Union; gold medal in the competition of the Kiev Conservatory and the competition "Poltava", Ukraine Nikolay Lysenko. In addition, he received first prize in the Geneva duet competition for violin and piano, and a gold medal in piano in the Swiss youth competition; Piano Competition in Chicago; New York Piano Competition; and the Cleveland Piano Competition.

The performances of Vitaliy Kupriy, whose photo is already well known, on Ukrainian radio and television brought him recognition for his performances. Flutist James Galway selected Cuprius as his masterclass accompanist. It was an international flute master class held in Switzerland and for an international tour. Mr. Galway and Vitali were heard nationwide on National Public Radio together when Sir James played the world premiere of one of Vitali's original compositions for piano and flute, broadcast throughout the United States. Shortly thereafter, Vitali was shown on WRTI for an hour and. Mr. Kupriy has been in high demand as a soloist, musician, pianist, and composer throughout the United States and abroad. He played in many countries around the world, including France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Poland, Switzerland, Great Britain and of course the Soviet Union.

On March 7, 1999, Mr. Kupriy was selected to play Piano Egg Concerto No. 1 with the New York Youth Symphony at Carnegie Hall, followed by performances at Alice Tully and Avery Fisher Hall. He played for two US presidents and government officials around the world. Many times he performed his own compositions, which were recorded on different labels and released in many countries.

Vitaly began his serious piano studies at the Mykola Lysenko Kyiv Music Academy for talented students, where he studied with Professor Nina Naiditsch. After graduating from the Conservatory, he was sent to Switzerland to study with Rudolf Buchbinder at the world famous Basel Conservatory in Switzerland, where he earned his second degree. In 1995, Mr. Kupriy traveled to the United States on the recommendation of Sir James Galway to begin studying music with Gary Graffman, president and director of the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. He graduated from Curtis and received another degree in 2000.

Since graduating from the Curtis Institute, Kupriy has performed all over the world. He was recently heard in Italy and Mexico, where he played Chopin's 1st Piano Concerto and Beethoven's most beloved 4th Piano Concerto. Vitaly recently had his solo debut at Carnegie Hall, where he played two encores. After this event, an article about Vitaly Kupriya was published in the New York Times.

Currently, Vitaly is negotiating with the Kiev Philharmonic about the recording of Rachmaninoff's second piano concerto. This will bring him back to his roots..
